OUR IDENTITY

Christ means what He meant when He says, “I must be about my Father’s business” (Luke 2:49). He was in the Father’s business when He said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work” (John 4:34). Christ’s proclamations are packed with active verbs such as “be, do, sent, and finish” which in themselves demonstrate His intentional, and unwavering devotion to the Father’s Business: Proclaiming good news to the poor in spirit, healing the brokenhearted (spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically), setting the captives free, releasing prisoners from spiritual bondage, and compassionately empathizing and sympathizing with the afflicted with abounding kindness, mercy, and grace, and offering eternal life to those who believe in Him (Isaiah 61:1-2; Hebrew 2:17-18; Matthew 9:36, John 3:16-17, 36).

 

Christ embodies the fullness of the Godhead in His deeds and statements that “He who has seen Me has seen the Father….... The words I say to you I do not speak on my authority. Rather, the Father living in Me is doing His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves” (Jn 14:9-11). “I and My Father are One” (Jn 10:30)". “I Am the light of the world” (Jn 8:12; 1Jn 1:5). He embodies who we are as God’s redeemed and restored image and likeness, righteousness, masterpiece, and radiant glory, as diffusers of the fragrance of God’s knowledge and manifestations of His manifold wisdom and grace on earth. He links the nature of our new creation, relationship, fellowship, personality, sanctification, and functions to the Godhead and personifies every facet of our lives as children of God in Himself.​
